How it works
Run a parking lot that actually empties.
The habit in five rules, and where the site helps with each one.
- 1
Agree the lot before the meeting starts
Say at the top: "Side topics go in the lot; we clear it in the last five minutes." Open the meeting in your lot so everyone can see the notes land.
- 2
Park in the speaker's words
Write the topic the way the person said it, and who raised it. One line is enough. Pick the kind: a question, an idea, an issue or a decision needed. Parking is not a judgment on the topic; it is a promise to come back to it.
- 3
Protect the last five minutes
Stop the agenda early enough to clear the lot. Go through every note, oldest first. The site shows the carried ones first for that reason.
- 4
Give every note exactly one outcome
Next step needs a person and an action ("Dana: check who still uses the old export"), plus a date if there is one. Answered and Dropped close the note; add a few words so the recap explains it. Keep parked carries it to next time.
- 5
Do not carry forever
Every carry adds one to the note's count. Once it has been carried 3 times (the default nudge; change it in Settings) the note is marked Decide or drop. If nobody can decide it, that is your answer: drop it, or give it to the person who can.
